Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook is known for being the star NBA point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and since joining the team in 2008 he has already been to the NBA Finals, become the #1 NBA leading scorer of the 2014-15 season, NBA All Star MVP, won an Olympic and a FIBA Gold Medal, and been names to the NBA All Star team three times.

FYI Sports has worked with Russell to expand his name beyond the court and create a multi-dimensional Westbrook Brand. In 2012, Westbrook founded The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation to encourage youth to believe in themselves despite adversity, and FYI has worked with the foundation to create annual landmark events that reinforce this mission and allow Russell to do the most good possible. With the help of FYI Sports, the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation was recently awarded the October 2014 Community Assist Award from the NBA and NBA Cares. FYI’s expertise in fashion and branding has helped Russell build the Westbrook brand into a fashion must-have with the 2014 launches of his Westbrook XO Barneys New York collection and his own optics and sunglass line, Westbrook Frames. As a revival of the hottest brand from the 80’s, FYI Public Relations re-launched Swatch brand through strategic partnership alliances and directly tied the brand as wearable art, for the fashion conscience, trendsetting individual.

Strategy

Strategically placed the brand in leading media outlets, partnered with complimentary brands, launched elite buzz generating events in NYC hosted and attended by celebrities, identified key leading personalities and gifted them garnering top tier media coverage and creating a brand alliance and grassroots marketing amongst the decision makers in pop culture.

Results

Swatch Watches is top of mind for the trendsetting elite, Swatches were spotted on the wrists of Hollywood and Fashion elites including Kelly Osbourne, Adrienne Bailon, Mary Louise Parker, Oprah Winfrey, Will.I.Am, Sophia Bush, Michelle Trachtenberg, & Estelle. Media coverage included national weekly, monthly and broadcast media including People, Oprah Magazine, and Entertainment tonight.
